Medical Officer/House Officer 

Job Summary

A Medical Officer is an entry-level medical doctor responsible for providing high-quality patient care under the supervision of senior medical staff. The role requires conducting assessments, performing procedures, and contributing to the overall treatment plans for patients while adhering to hospital protocols and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Patient Care:
  • Perform clinical examinations and take detailed patient histories during rounds.
  • Monitor patient progress, ensuring timely reporting of any significant changes to senior medical staff.
  • Assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients in various clinical departments (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics).
  1. Procedures:
  • Conduct routine and minor procedures under supervision, ensuring adherence to safety and clinical guidelines.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedural care to patients.
  1. Emergency Management:
  • Participate actively in emergency and resuscitation procedures (e.g., Code Blue, trauma).
  • Assist in stabilizing patients in critical conditions and provide urgent care as directed.
  1. Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and up-to-date medical records, including clinical notes, charts, and discharge summaries.
  • Document all procedures, prescriptions, and interventions accurately.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals, and consultants to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Participate in handovers, ensuring clear communication of patient conditions and treatment plans.
  1. Education and Development:
  • Attend scheduled training sessions, lectures, and workshops to enhance medical knowledge and skills.
  • Engage in mentorship opportunities and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
  1. Compliance and Protocols:
  • Adhere to hospital policies, medical guidelines, and infection control protocols.
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Completion of a recognized internship program.
  • Active and Valid Nepal Medical Council (NMC) Registration Certificate.
